New Tools I Use
While these tools are not required to make coin rings they are tools I very much like using. After investing a bit more money into this hobby these tools have made it much easier. They give me more flexibility on ring sizing and shape, as well as some other cool things!
Coin Ring Stretcher and Reducer
When I first started looking into this kind of tool I found that there are 2 levels of them, the cheap version and the professional version. There is a pretty big jump in the price between these two. I picked the cheaper of the two to start with, mostly because I could not afford a nicer one.
While I expected the ring stretcher to be flawed in some way, the only problem I have found with it is the reducer plate is not great for working on coin rings. The stretcher itself has worked like a dream!
You can find the ring stretcher I got by clicking my affiliate link below, this link does earn me commissions if sales are made through it. Thanks!
Unminted “Cowboy Hat” Coin Tool Sets
From the first moment I saw these, I knew I must have them. Using these toolsets you can turn U.S. coins like dimes, nickels, pennies, quarters, and half dollars into super cute cowboy hats. I ordered the penny, quarter, and half dollar sets and I have really enjoyed using them.
These tools are made in-house by a fellow coin ring maker at Unminted. They are 3d printed and designed with you in mind. This tool is made by a coin ring maker for coin ring makers! I was able to get some made in less than 30 minutes and kept making them for the rest of the night, it is so fun!
